Overview

MemeMaid is designed with privacy at its core. The free tier processes everything on your device — your photos never leave your phone. The Pro tier optionally uses external AI services, which is clearly disclosed before you opt in.

Data We Collect

Camera Roll Access

MemeMaid requests read access to your photo library to identify memes. We do not modify, delete, or upload your photos. On the free tier, all image analysis happens entirely on-device using Apple's Core ML framework.

On-Device Processing (Free Tier)

AI classification, tagging, and text recognition (OCR) run locally on your device. No images, tags, or metadata are transmitted to any server. Your meme collection data is stored locally and synced via iCloud Drive under your own Apple ID.

Cloud AI Processing (Pro Tier)

Pro features use Google's Gemini API for advanced image understanding. When you enable Pro features, images from your meme collection are sent to Google's servers for analysis. This is clearly disclosed during the upgrade flow and requires your explicit consent. Google's data handling is governed by their privacy policy.

Analytics & Crash Reporting

We use PostHog for anonymous usage analytics and Sentry for crash reporting. These services collect non-identifiable data such as app events, device type, OS version, and crash logs. No photo content or personal information is included in analytics data.

Purchases

In-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple via StoreKit. We do not collect or store payment information. Apple's purchase policies apply.

Data Storage

Your meme collection, tags, and organization data are stored locally on your device and optionally synced via iCloud Drive. We do not operate our own servers for storing user data. We have no access to your iCloud data.

Your Rights

You can:

• Revoke camera roll access at any time in iOS Settings
• Disable Pro cloud features to return to fully on-device processing
• Delete all app data by uninstalling MemeMaid
• Request information about any data we hold by contacting us

Children's Privacy

MemeMaid is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of any changes.
